JPS Health Network Nursing team hosted a Nurse Award Luncheon on Wednesday, May 17, to celebrate nurses' commitment to providing excellent care to patients. Nurses play a vital role in a patient's healthcare journey, and these awards express appreciation for their dedication to providing exemplary care.
"If it weren't for COVID-19, I probably wouldn't have been here today," said Bridgett Lyman. "I don't want to say it, but it's true." These are the words no one would ever expect to hear. Navigating life during the pandemic was a tough time, and it significantly impacted many individuals. For Bridgett Lyman, it was a time that saved her life.
For Brianna Green, BSN, RN, PCCN, JPS Health Network is home. She was born at JPS, her grandmother worked here for 35 years, her mother has been a JPS employee for 27 years, and the many people Green has met over her 13 years at JPS have become more than coworkers; they've become family.
Having the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of her grandmother and mother and serve the JPS community for many years has been comforting to her. Together, the family has served 75 years, and she is more than happy to carry on the legacy of serving the JPS population.
Nurses are essential in the healthcare journey of patients. They often see a patient before and after their diagnosis and know how a few words could change a patient's life. They are responsible for administering medication, assessing a patient's needs, collaborating with physicians, and implementing the physician's orders. Along with their daily duties, they advocate and provide emotional support to patients and their families. Nurses ensure that the patients receive the best care physically and emotionally, but sometimes they are dealing with issues themselves.
